Day 18: El Burgo Ranero - Mansilla de las Mulas

Today was a bit of a drag, really.. The weather was fine, but we had too much straight foward walking by the road, so all seemed the same. Damn you meseta, we are already sick of you!

One sighting made our day, though. Just before the village of Reliegos we spotted something that didn't seem to match the rest of the landscape: two lighter spots in front of some bushes. I zoomed in with my camera and we found out that those spots were actually a couple of deers resting in the sun, about 700m from the camino!

In every village from this point on we seem to find something like "hobbit houses" that Luís says are some sort of kiln. But there are dozens of them everywhere! I prefer to call it hobbit houses, so I'll just refer to them as such in future posts. :P

Reaching Mansilla de las Mulas we went straight for the municipal albergue, but found the door closed and no information on opening time. So we decided to ask in the Ayuntamiento, where, after a phone call, we were told that it was closed. Bummer! So we had to pay 10€ each instead of 5€ to stay at the private albergue.. But at least they had menu del peregrino, so we had a good meal there.
