Day 26: O'Cebreiro - Sarria

We got a bit nuts today and decided to walk 40km to Sarria. It was a good way to test our abilities.

To walk this many kms we had to start early, so by 7:30 we were already on our way. Having the experience from walking on the melting snow the day before, we decided to go on the road until we got under the snow line. Actually, we made one more attempt to walk on the camino before that point, but it wasn't too successful!

Walking in the dawn we felt like we were in a black and white movie: all around us was white fields and black tree lines.

Once again Luís spotted a fox on a white field. This time we manage to get a couple of photos before it run off, but with the poor lighting at that early hour they didn't come out very well.

After about 10km we were finally back on the snowless camino. The clouds that had been over our heads since we started finally began to dissipate and the sun bathing the hills around us introduced us to the beauties of Galicia. Green fields everywhere, divided by fences and walls and small woodlands. We started seeing (and smelling!) cows, sheep and chickens populating the small hamlets we passed by. Not many people around, though!

We stopped halfway in Triacastela to have lunch and one hour and two veal steaks later we left the bar refreshed and ready to walk the 20km that separated us from Sarria.

It was a fantastic walk! A few kms before our destination my legs started getting tired, but nothing that we wouldn't expect after this distance! Our goal of walking 40km in a day was successfully completed without any harm!
